Thanks for giving me life so many years ago,
Rearing a child back then wasn't easy I know.
*******
Money was so very scarce and life was tough,
But the love you gave us was quite enough.
*******
You were the plant and we were your seeds.
You nurtured us with our basic needs.
*******
With that strength, we went on alone and grew,
Repeating the cycle of life, bringing forth the new.
*******
Though you're not with me today, but only in thought,
Those memories we once shared could never be bought.
*******
So mom and dad, I want to thank you again today,
For giving me life on this, my seventieth Birthday.
