In the early 1960's, we raised chickens each year for eggs and meat for our family. Raising so many chickens meant having to clean the chicken house often too. One of those times when Wayne and the boys cleaned out our chicken house, they piled the chicken "doo" behind the building until it could be used later to fertilize our garden. When the dreaded job was completed, Wayne realized his inexpensive Timex wrist watch was missing. Apparently during the job, the band had broken and the watch fell off unnoticed. He and the boys searched until Wayne decided it was a lost cause and decided to purchase another inexpensive Timex watch to take its place.
Almost two years later Wayne decided to scatter some of the manure on a garden plot and yes, you guessed it, he found the allusive wrist watch and can you believe it was still ticking away. The old cliché of that time "Timex takes a licking and keeps right on ticking" was surely true.
Many people sent their unusual stories to the Timex foundation about things happening to their Timex watches and how they never stopped working. In turn; they received payment for their stories that were published in their ads. We should have taken advantage of that offer.
