Our daughter, Susan, worked for Wal-Mart in Kansas City, Missouri where she was in charge of ordering Maxi Pad Sanitary Napkins for her department. A big sale on the pads was coming up in a couple of months and she wanted to have a good supply on hand to meet the huge demand. In years before, the Maxi Pads sold out immediately after the sale opened with a large demand for more. She asked her department manager for permission to order a large amount of pads, so she could stockpile the pads ahead of time for the next big sale. He tried to assure her she did not need to do that, but she disagreed with him and went to the manager to make her plea for more pads. In turn, he told the department manager “listen to Susan, she has been here for years and knows exactly what she is doing.”
The superior relentlessly let Susan order the extra pads she had requested. Susan started squirreling away the pads and finally had a good stockpile before the coming sale. Susan had noticed that when there was a sale on Maxi Pads that the pads sold out fast. Most of the sales were to truckers who used the pads to replace filters on their Semi Truck Tractors. The use of the Maxi Pads as filters cut down their expenses. Susan said it was hilarious to see a line of big brawny truck drivers leaving the checkout line with a case of Maxi Pads under each arm.
