The old Florence School house sat in this same location in far northwestern Grant County burned down. A new school house was built to take its place. The name was changed to Mt. View for its hilltop location. A year or so later after this picture was taken a “cubby hole” entry was added for weather protection and for children who arrived earlier than the teacher. Our teacher, Miss Edith Miller, took these pictures.


Note: My dad Orville Caywood and his siblings attended Florence school in the early 1900's. This picture was taken in 1913.
