In the 1970's, we purchased a special Flotation Water bed with the mesh like material throughout the bladder. It was a very expensive water bed with a frame. It was promised not to make waves and movement was minimum. We so enjoyed it and the heat was plus in the winter, especially soothing for sore muscles.

One night Wayne was especially tired and went to bed earlier that I did. I watched him go down the hall to our room, but soon he came back and went into the guest bedroom. I was puzzled, but did not ask questions. He often did it when he was hurting.

I stayed up to finish watching my TV show, then headed to our room. I always used the light from the nightlight so I would not awaken Wayne and it became a habit. This night was no exception. I put on my gown, pulled back the covers and sort of flopped down on the bed. I was now laying in a couple inches of water.

Now the reason for Wayne moving to the guest room flashed through my mind. I changed gowns and joined Wayne in the guest room after chewing him out royally for not telling me about the water flooded bed. He laughed and said he stayed awake and was waiting for me to join him. By then I was between anger and laughing at what he knew would happen. We had pin hole leaks a couple of times and patched them with a kit enclosed with the package. This time the leak came from a split seam. That was our first and last water bed.
